This was my first experience at a hot pot restaurant. However, I have had quite a few hot pot meals at home with various types of food. As we walked into the restaurant at around 8:45, there were NO OTHER CUSTOMERS THERE. After being seated, one group of people did come in as well though. Upon seating, the waiter questioned whether we wanted the hot pot menu or the kitchen menu. Of course, we chose the hot pot menu. We received a paper check-off sheet filled with various uncooked options to be delivered to us. Each item whether it be meat, vegetable, or noodle came on its own container/plate. Prices and descriptions were listed on the sheet as well.

Today we ordered the sliced NY beef, sliced pork shoulder, chicken breast, beef balls, fish filet, Napa cabbage, tiny corn, pork and shrimp wontons, and ramen noodles. For the hot pot soup choices, we chose the house special spicy and the miso. The house spicy soup is very spicy. The miso soup was very flavorful. While waiting for all the items to arrive, you can see that all the items were basically inside a large refrigerator lined with a bunch of glass doors that the employees access.

Overall, HL hot pot succeeded, but they really need more customers. Upon receiving the items, we realized that ordered way too much food for two people. The cooking/eating experience was quite enjoyable, albeit the food was extremely hot so you couldn’t really eat too fast. If you have never tried hot pot before, then you should definitely give it a shot.

Why a 3? I thought it was pretty good. Just little pricey for some of the meat portions provided.

  1. It all comes down to price, taste, and ambiance for this 3 rating, Tina.
