BJ’s Restaurant

3531 N Freeway Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95834

Rating: ★★★★☆

I can always count on BJ’s to provide a good tasting meal for a large group of people. Surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night, the server kept up with constant refills on drinks. Today I ordered a crafted root beer and a Grilled Chicken Giant Stuffed Potato.

The crafted root beer does taste better than standard root beer in a can, and you will get free refills too. The grilled chicken giant stuffed potato was large for a potato. Split in half, filled with grilled chicken, broccoli, and cheese, this dish is certainly filled with good stuff. Served with a side of ranch, the actual combination of ingredients would be more tasty with more flavor. I would probably not order it again.

The meal was finished off with a free birthday pizookie, which is always delicious topped with creamy vanilla ice cream. Due to great service and good food, BJ’s deserves a visit once and a while to chow down on various menu items. Of all the locations in the Sacramento area, I have found the best service to be at the Natomas location, with Arden 2nd, Roseville 3rd, and Elk Grove last. In the end, you just can’t resist the temptation of BJ’s famous pizookie!

Red Robin

8245 Laguna Blvd
Elk Grove, CA 95624

Rating: ★★★★★

I like to come to Red Robin around my birthday time because I get a FREE BURGER! In addition, this free burger can be customized any way you want it. This time, I ordered a Red Robin Gourmet Monster Bacon Cheeseburger (the monster comes from an additional beef patty). I also ordered a side order of onion rings and a freckled lemonade.

If you have ever tried variants of the strawberry lemonade, you will need to make sure you try this freckled lemonade. The lemonade is not too sour, and there is a ton of chunks of strawberry pieces mixed in. This is by far the best strawberry lemonade ever! The onion rings were really good and came with two dips.

The burger was delicious! I asked for mine to be cooked with pink inside to make it more juicy. The burger looks small in the pictures, but it is humongous in your hands. The burger was stacked neatly and had just the right amount of condiments. I would definitely order this burger again, but I may want to try their other burgers and dishes as well.

If I had to choose a burger joint to eat at, I would definitely choose Red Robin. I would also suggest signing up for their Red Robin club because you get a free burger every year around your birthday. Also, after you bur 9 burgers, you get the 10th free! If you haven’t tried Red Robin yet, you should definitely go try it now!

Bread Shed Deli

631 N Market Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95834

Rating: ★★☆☆☆

In search for some quick lunch food, I landed at Bread Shed Deli at the suggestion of my co-worker Jovis. The location is quite weird, located at the end of a industrial plaza. When you walk into the deli, you will find a pool table, TV’s and plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. At first, I wanted to try their tuna melt, but they ran out of tuna. Instead, I decided to try out their combination #4, teriyaki chicken with fried rice and chow mein. It did feel kind of weird ordering Chinese food at a deli, but I decided to give it a try.

The chicken is quite tender and sliced thin. The fried rice was cooked well, and the chow mein was good. The teriyaki sauce was kind of blobby, and not really smooth. Also, the sauce was overly salty. I would probably not order this meal again. I am determined to try the sandwiches or burgers from Bread Shed Deli at a later date, but this current rating will stand based on this dish alone. I am hoping that the next meal here will not be a disappointment.

Pho Xe Lua

5331 Stockton Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95820

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Stockton boulevard is home to many Pho restaurants. Pho Xe Lua happens to be the 3rd Pho restaurant I am reviewing. Previous reviews from Saigon and Tau Bay are hard to beat when it comes to taste.

On this trip, I ordered a Pho Tai and a strawberry shake. I also got to try the Charbroiled Pork over Vermicelli noodle as well. The pho arrived with most of the meat already cooked through. The meat was not cooked thin enough to my liking. The broth lacked any flavor, and did not seem clear. I had to add hoisin sauce for additional flavor. The strawberry shake tasted great, and was served in a to-go cup. The Charbroiled Pork over Vermicelli was really good, and I liked how they did not put too much mint in the dish.

Overall, I still feel like there are better Pho choices in Sacramento, and for that matter, across the street at Saigon. I have heard that the Chinese dishes at Pho Xe Lua are not bad though, so if you are looking for Pho, but some others in your party want good Chinese food, then Pho Xe Lua might be a good choice. I would need to taste some of the Chinese dishes to be for sure. If you are looking for decent Pho, Pho Xe Lue has it.

Earl of Sandwich – Las Vegas – Part 2

Inside Miracle Mile Shops @ Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino

Rating: ★★★★★

Another late night with few options to dine. With no other options in mind, we quickly head to Earl of Sandwich. This trip to the restaurant was no different from the previous trip to the restaurant.

This time we ordered the Cannonball and The Full Montagu. The Cannonball is basically a cheesy meatball sandwich served on Earl of Sandwich’s signature bread. This definitely tastes better than any other meatball sandwich I have ever had (yes that includes subway). The Full Montagu was even more amazing! Roast beef, turkey, lettuce, cheese, and their special mustard spread were included in the sandwich. The roast beef melts in your mouth and the sandwich as a whole is delicious. In addition to the sandwiches, we also ordered a Brownie Cream, which was a brownie cut in half with cream in between. It was quite sweet, and didn’t really go well with soda and sandwiches. Next time, we will just stick to sandwiches and soda.

Again, Earl of Sandwich does not disappoint! This location is quick and produces delicious sandwiches. I anticipate multiple visits to Earl of Sandwich on every trip to Las Vegas.
